Aren't work shoes and safety shoes the same ?

Don't be fooled, there can be enourmous differences in shoe quality. In order to meet Australian Standards Occupational Footwear Standards, safety footwear must undergo rigourous testing in order to meet these standards. Don't substitute quality for price, while there are many safety shoes on the market, ensure that the ones that you select are suitable for your work environment and comply with Australian Standards. Prices will also vary depending on the quality, function and features of the shoes. Our range of work shoes and work boots are high quality and great value.

How do you fit a shoe correctly ?

Here are some handy tips for fitting shoes correctly:

  • Measure your feet regularly, your ligament and soft tissue relax and change shape the older you get
  • The bend in your big toe should match with where the shoe bends. With both shoes on, rise up onto your toes. If you feel the shoe bend before or after the big toe joint, then the shoe is not a good fit for your arch length
  • Wear appropriate sock when trying on the shoe style
  • Ensure that you stand when trying on your shoes and that your weight is evenly balanced
  • Leave 1/2 inch between the end of your longest toe and the end of the front of the shoe
  • Ensure that your toes have enough room to move around comfortably

What is a Kevlar pierce resistant midsole?

Kevlar is a high strength material and is spun into rope or fabric sheets. It has a high tensile strength to weight ratio, and by this measure is 5 times stronger than steel on an equal basis. Kevlar can be found in some of our footwear midsoles and provides protection again piercings through the sole.

What are Vibram soles?

Are composite toe caps strong?

Safety toe caps shoes and boots should come with a Jule rating. Composite toe shoes have the advantage of being lighter than steel toe cap shoes, but are rated to 200J. Please refer to the toe cap rating in our product descriptions.

What does a 200 Joule rating mean?

A joule is equal to the energy expended in applying a force for one metre. The toe cap in safety shoes are often rated by joules. A steel toecap protects the foot from the impact from falling objects up to a guaranteed value of 200 joule. This impact represents to the energy created by a sharp object weighing 20 kilos falling from a height of 1 meter.

What is PU and EVA midsole mean?

EVA - (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) A diverse midsole material which is durable, lightweight, and provides responsive cushioning

PU - (PolyUrethane) A durable, long-lasting midsole material, which gives a firmer ride

TPU - ( Thermoplastic Urethane) outsole for superior wear properties.
